The lesson
Kickboxing champions are built on kicks that boxing rewards less: the leg kick shapes distance, and the check decides whether it works. If you train striking, drill the check before you drill the kick; a missed kick costs balance, a checked one costs the leg.
A vacant belt makes two fighters equal. The one with the better distance usually does not stay equal for long.
