Five fighters have faced both Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua: Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte, Otto Wallin, Francis Ngannou and Oleksandr Usyk. Fury outpointed Klitschko in 2015; Joshua stopped him in the 11th in 2017. Both stopped Whyte (Joshua in seven, Fury in six). Fury beat Wallin on points with a badly cut eye; Wallin retired on his stool against Joshua after five. Fury won a split decision over Ngannou after being dropped; Joshua knocked him out in two. Both lost twice to Usyk — Fury by split and unanimous decision in 2024, Joshua by unanimous and split decision in 2021 and 2022.

Fury, November 2015, Düsseldorf — unanimous decision. Fury took the WBA, IBF and WBO titles off a champion unbeaten in eleven years by never letting him set his jab: feints, stance switches, constant movement. Joshua, April 2017, Wembley — TKO 11. In front of 90,000, Joshua dropped Klitschko in the fifth, was dropped himself in the sixth, and stopped him in the eleventh.
What it tells us: Fury beat Klitschko with his brain, Joshua with his will. The caveat is age — Klitschko was 39 against Fury and 41 against Joshua.

Dillian Whyte
Joshua, December 2015 — KO 7, after being badly hurt in the second round. Fury, April 2022, Wembley — TKO 6, a single uppercut in front of 94,000.
What it tells us: both men can end a fight with one punch against a durable, aggressive heavyweight. Whyte hurt Joshua; he never hurt Fury.
Otto Wallin
Fury, September 2019, Las Vegas — unanimous decision, fought through a cut over the right eye so deep the fight was in danger of being stopped. Joshua, December 2023, Riyadh — Wallin retired after five rounds.
What it tells us: Joshua's version is the more dominant result, but Fury's is the more revealing one. Bleeding badly against a tall southpaw, he adjusted and won rounds anyway. That is the Fury Joshua has to beat: the one who solves problems mid-fight.
Francis Ngannou
Fury, October 2023, Riyadh — split decision, after being dropped by a left hook in the third round of Ngannou's professional debut. Joshua, March 2024, Riyadh — KO 2, dropping Ngannou in the first and finishing him with a straight right in the second.
What it tells us: the clearest contrast on the chart. A Fury who was under-prepared nearly lost; a Joshua who was fully prepared was ruthless. It is also the result Joshua's camp will lean on — and the one Fury's will say was a different Fury.
Oleksandr Usyk
Joshua — lost a unanimous decision in September 2021 and a split decision in August 2022. Fury — lost a split decision in May 2024 and a unanimous decision in December 2024.
What it tells us: the champion both chased had the answer to both. Fury came closer: one judge had him winning their first fight. Joshua's second fight with Usyk was his best performance against an elite boxer, and he still lost it.

Against the same five men, Joshua finished four — Klitschko, Whyte, Wallin and Ngannou. Fury finished one, Whyte, and took the other three to the cards. Joshua finishes men who stand in front of him.
