Fear Is Fuel: Reframing Pre-Fight Anxiety Like the Greats

Every fighter feels it: the racing heart, the dry mouth, the doubt in the dressing room. The greats feel it too. The difference is what they do with it.

Same energy, different label The physical signs of fear and excitement are nearly identical — elevated heart rate, adrenaline, heightened senses. The story you tell yourself decides which one it becomes.

  • Reframe "I'm scared" as "I'm ready" — the body is priming you to perform.
  • Channel it into the warm-up, not into spiralling thoughts.
  • Accept it. Waiting for the nerves to vanish is the trap. They won't, and they shouldn't.
Fear means you care. Use it.
